Key Terms You Should Know

The clauses below explain how enquiries become agreements, how we handle valuable timepieces and where responsibility sits at each stage. Please read.

01 Website Use

You may use this website to learn about Accorn Chronos Ltd, inspect available watches and send genuine service enquiries. Do not copy, alter, publish or commercially reuse our written content, images, designs or marks without written permission.

Website information is provided for general guidance. A photograph, description or displayed price may change as a watch is inspected, reserved or sold. We do not promise that every page will always be available or error-free.

02 Enquiries & Quotations

An enquiry helps us understand the watch, service or commission you have in mind. It does not reserve stock or create a contract. We may ask for photographs, serial details, service history and proof of ownership before giving a view.

Written quotations remain open for 14 days unless the quotation says otherwise. A quotation becomes binding only when both parties confirm the scope in writing and any requested deposit has cleared. Estimates can change when concealed damage, unavailable parts or changes requested by you are found.

03 Bespoke Commissions

A bespoke watch commission begins with an agreed brief covering case, dial, hands, movement, materials, finish and budget. We will confirm design stages in writing. Production starts after the required deposit and written approval of the final specification.

Lead times are estimates because specialist components and hand-finishing can take longer than planned. A deposit is applied to the agreed commission. If you cancel after materials or workshop time have been committed, we may retain the amount needed to cover those costs.

Approved drawings, samples and specifications are the reference for the finished piece. Small differences in natural materials, hand finishing and component availability are part of individual workshop production.

04 Repairs & Restoration

We inspect a timepiece before confirming the work. Opening an old or damaged watch can reveal worn threads, brittle seals, corrosion, previous alterations or parts that no longer meet safe operating standards. We will contact you when a material change to the agreed work or price is needed.

Parts may be original, period-correct, newly manufactured or sympathetic replacements. We will explain the choice where it affects value, appearance or function. Water resistance is never assumed after repair unless a suitable test is completed and the result is recorded.

Restoration can preserve evidence of age rather than remove every mark. We cannot guarantee that an antique watch will perform like a modern watch, and we are not responsible for pre-existing weakness that becomes apparent during careful work.

05 Fine Watch Sales

Each available watch is described from our inspection and the information reasonably available to us. Age-related marks, replaced components, service history and movement condition will be stated where known. A pre-purchase inspection appointment may be arranged by agreement.

We take reasonable steps to check authenticity and provenance. We do not promise that every historical detail can be verified. Title passes only after cleared payment and any required collection or delivery arrangements have been completed.

Consumers retain rights under applicable UK law. If a purchase is made in person, any return arrangement must be agreed in writing. A watch altered, opened or damaged after collection may not be eligible for a return or adjustment.

06 Payment & Cancellation

We accept the payment methods stated on the quotation or invoice. Work and collection are conditional on cleared funds. A card or bank payment may require identity or fraud checks before release of a watch.

Appointment changes should be made as soon as possible. Commission and repair cancellations are handled against the written scope, work already completed, ordered parts and external costs. Any refundable balance will be confirmed after those amounts are assessed.

07 Warranty & Liability

Unless a different period is written on your invoice, completed repair work carries a 12-month workmanship warranty from collection or delivery. This covers the specific work completed. It does not cover accidental damage, moisture ingress, magnetism, misuse, normal wear, third-party work or faults in unrelated components.

Claims should be reported promptly with the watch available for inspection. Do not arrange another repair before contacting us, as this can prevent us from assessing the original work. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

08 Shipping & Collection

High-value watches are sent only by an agreed secure courier or collected from our workshop at Shaw Wood Lane, Uttlesford, Hertfordshire, CM23 1HP. Delivery charges, insurance limits and any signature requirement will be confirmed before dispatch.

Please check the parcel and watch promptly. Tell us about visible transit damage as soon as possible and retain the packaging for the courier assessment. Risk passes in accordance with applicable consumer law and, for other customers, when the watch is delivered to the agreed address or handed to the nominated carrier.

Project records and components

Ownership of Submitted Materials

We handle your information for the agreed project. Original parts remain tied to the watch they came from.

  • Photographs, documents and ideas you submit are used for the relevant enquiry, repair or commission and are not repurposed for unrelated work.
  • We may photograph completed work for our portfolio. Tell us in writing before completion if you do not want identifiable details or images used.
  • Original components removed during restoration remain your property and will be returned with the completed watch unless you agree another arrangement in writing.

England and Wales

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any rights a consumer has to bring proceedings elsewhere under applicable law.

Accorn Chronos Ltd operates from Shaw Wood Lane, Uttlesford, Hertfordshire, CM23 1HP. Consumer protections under UK law are acknowledged and respected.

If a court finds one clause unenforceable, the remaining clauses will continue to apply.
