Custom watch design UK

Design a watch around what moves you.

A cockpit dial, a racing chronograph case, or a skeletonised movement can begin with one strong idea. Accorn Chronos Ltd turns that idea into an analogue watch through original drawings, clear material choices, and close approval at every stage.

Start with a reference point

Six design directions to explore

Bring a story, an object, or a favourite instrument. We translate its useful details into proportion, texture, colour, and legibility.

Aviation

Cockpit-inspired dials, high-contrast indices, instrument hands, and clear timing scales make aviation watches easy to read at a glance.

Design inspiration: altimeters, flight logs, riveted panels.

Motorsport

Racing chronograph details meet tachymeter bezels, perforated straps, and compact numerals with a purposeful vintage feel.

Design inspiration: pit boards, lap counters, British racing green.

Military

Muted palettes and strong lume support a practical dial shaped by trench-era watches and field equipment.

Design inspiration: service markings, canvas, functional typography.

Nautical

Marine chronometer cues, wave-textured surfaces, and deck-inspired colourways bring calm structure to the design.

Design inspiration: tide tables, brass instruments, blue water.

Classic car

Dashboard typography, cream dials, and warm leather textures recall the interiors of mid-century grand tourers.

Design inspiration: gauges, walnut, stitched steering wheels.

Skeletonised

Open-worked bridges and mainplates reveal the mechanical heart while keeping the hour display calm and readable.

Design inspiration: gears, hand finishing, visible motion.

Made around your brief

How deep does customisation go?

Every element can carry the same design language. Nothing needs to come from a parts catalogue.

Discuss your design
Dial
Choose hand-finished brass, silver, enamel, or a custom-painted surface. Applied indices, personal markings, and carefully balanced date apertures are drawn for the case and movement together.
Hands
Set the mood with bespoke profiles, thermal bluing, polished or matte surfaces, and lume chosen for the intended setting.
Movement
Skeletonisation, perlage, Côtes de Genève, and engraved rotors can make the movement part of the visual story.
Case
We can review lug profiles, bezel styles, crown shapes, finishing, and engraving positions across the case.
Strap
Hand-stitched leather, woven fabric, or metal bracelets are matched to the design's proportions and daily wear.

Thoughtful material choices

Materials you can feel good about

We discuss the source and finish of every visible material before approval. That includes recycled 316L steel, lower-impact gold alternatives, certified conflict-free precious metals, and vegetable-tanned hides from ethically managed European tanneries.

Presentation materials are recycled or recyclable. Luxury should feel considered at every touchpoint.

A clear approval process

Your approval at every stage

Changes are welcome while a design is still on paper. You see the watch taking shape before assembly begins.

1

Direction

We review references, proportions, wear, and the main design idea.

2

Technical drawing

Dimensions, finishes, materials, and movement requirements are set out.

3

Prototype review

Dial and hand prototypes give you a real visual check.

4

Pre-assembly

All components are checked together before the watch is assembled.

5

Final inspection

We inspect alignment, finish, timekeeping, and presentation before delivery.

The detail nobody else owns

Make it irreplaceably yours

Engrave a caseback, rotor, dial signature, or movement bridge. Initials, dates, coordinates, short quotations, and family crests can be paired with classic serif, modern sans-serif, or hand-lettered styles.

A design brought to life

One inherited chronograph. One new chapter.

A client brought us a vintage motorsport chronograph inherited from his grandfather. Its 1960s dashboard typography and British racing green accents became the starting point for a new watch, with cream indices, a measured seconds track, and a hand-stitched strap.

"The watch is unmistakably mine, a tribute to my grandfather's car and my own passion for racing."
